This week in music history: 10th April

It was on April 10, 2012 that the American DJ Porter Robinson released his single, Language in the US. When it was made available across the pond in September that year, it went on to reach Number 9 in the UK Singles Chart.

A perfect blend of soft EDM and edgy dubstep, it’s a track which still makes the odd appearance on club playlists five years later. An off-beat synth melody underneath a driving tempo in the chorus makes Language a great anthem to dance along to. Contrast this with a short, calm verse from uncredited vocalist Heather Bright and it’s a single which is both great for personal listening and party playlists.

In terms of the aforementioned chart success, Language is a significant song for the DJ. The only other single from the artist to enter the UK charts was Easy (his collaboration with Mat Zo). However, with that track only reaching Number 28, it’s nothing compared to this euphoric dance hit.

Language is available to buy and stream on Amazon, iTunes and Spotify. Watch the official music video for the track below.
